3. Information Collected Through Digital Banking

Our online banking, mobile banking, and website services may collect device identifiers, IP addresses, browser and operating system information, geolocation data when permitted, login history, authentication information, and digital activity necessary to provide services, maintain security, and protect member accounts.


4. Mobile App Permissions

Depending on the services used, the mobile application may request permission to access:

  • Camera (mobile deposit and QR functionality)

  • Biometrics (fingerprint or facial recognition login)

  • Push notifications (security alerts and account notifications)

Members may manage these permissions through their device settings.


5. Mobile Deposit Privacy

When members use Remote Deposit Capture, images of checks and related deposit information may be collected, securely transmitted, processed, stored, and retained to facilitate deposits and comply with applicable legal and record retention requirements.


6. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

REFCU websites and digital services may use cookies, web beacons, local storage technologies, analytics tools, and similar technologies to improve functionality, remember preferences, detect fraud, enhance security, and better understand how our services are used.


7. How We Use Information

Information is used to establish and maintain accounts, process transactions, verify identity, prevent fraud, provide member support, deliver electronic services, communicate with members, improve products and services, and comply with legal and regulatory obligations.

REFCU does not sell member information. Information may be shared with service providers, payment processors, core processors, mobile banking vendors, credit bureaus, government agencies, regulators, auditors, and other parties as permitted or required by law.


9. Joint Marketing

REFCU may engage in joint marketing relationships with nonaffiliated financial companies that together market financial products and services. Our joint marketing partners may include insurance companies or agencies.


10. Fraud Prevention and Security Monitoring

REFCU uses transaction monitoring, multifactor authentication, device information, geolocation where appropriate, behavioral analytics, and other security measures to help detect and prevent fraud, cyberattacks, identity theft, and unauthorized account access.


11. Data Retention

Records may be retained in accordance with federal and state record retention requirements, NCUA guidance, business needs, litigation holds, and other legal or regulatory obligations.


12. Safeguarding Member Information

REFCU maintains administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information from unauthorized access, use, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. Access is restricted to authorized personnel with a legitimate business need.


13. Children's Privacy

REFCU's website and mobile banking services are not directed toward children under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information online from children without appropriate authorization where required.

Links to third-party websites are provided for convenience. REFCU is not responsible for the privacy practices, security, or content of external websites.


15. Member Rights and Choices

Members may review and update account information, manage communication preferences, and exercise applicable privacy rights by contacting the Credit Union. Certain information-sharing limitations may be available under federal or state law.
